There is a blush for you! Cream, powder, tint or gel, we have the scoop on which you should use.

Choosing the right type of blush is just as important as choosing the right shade. You don't want to look cakey, chalky or like the blush has slipped off your face. These tips will help you figure out your blush needs.

  • Powder blush: This is the wonder blush. It works on most skin types, so if you have some problem areas (say a few blemishes, uneven tone, or your skin isn't super smooth) the blush will help cover up these flaws. It's also great for those who have oily skin (just choose one that has Zinc to help absorb excess moisture). Used it lightly means that those with slightly dry skin can also benefit from powder blush. Use a light hand when dusting on the powder on the apples of your cheeks for the most natural flush and blend well. Blending is the key to the best rosy glow. If you want extra colour simply dust on another layer and gradually get to your desired shade. Try: Your favourite brand at any drugstore will do the trick!
  • Cream blush: Cream blush will give you a really natural, dewy, rosy glow. It works best on people with smooth skin, so it won't sink into wrinkles, crevices, or fine lines. If you have a few blackheads or blemishes, the creamy texture can emphasize them even more. Apply your cream blush after your daily routine of moisturizer, sunscreen and foundation and pat it in so it stays put. Using a little bit of translucent powder on top will get it in one place all day without mucking up your pretty colour. Try: NARS Cream Blush.
  • Gel blush: A blush in gel form is much like a tint. It gives a very sheer hint of colour and when applied to the very apples of your cheeks, you get the ultimate pinched-cheek look. They are ideal for people with near flawless skin because it will let your natural beauty shine through with out looking like you are wearing any makeup at all. But, no matter your skin type, a gel blush will give you a natural glow. Just be careful if you do have blemishes -- be sure to cover with a bit of concealer, and don't rub the gel blush over it -- lightly pat it into the skin. Try: Stila's Gel Cheek Colour.
  • Cheek tints: The no-fail, no-budge, no-fuss blush. They are ideal for going from day-to-night time looks because they literally will not budge all day long. Plus they are the best choice for summer beauty, since it looks like you just went for a run outside. And, they work well on just about everyone because it gives the most natural flush of all blushes. Dot a few drops on your cheeks and rub in a circular motion over the apples of your cheeks. Work quickly because it dries in seconds. The one downfall -- once it's on there, there's no going back unless you wash your face! Try: Benefit's Benetint.
